Problem 1, Running for President
Let's say you want to run for president.
Assume there is a population of 23,430,225 voters
You win by a ratio of 8:6.
How many votes did you and your opposing canadate receive?

Solution
Find the simpliest proportion for the ratio of votes.
4:3
Add the two numbers up...4+3=7, this is the total number of votes that each candidate would have received had there beed 7 voters.
Now what do you need to multiply the 7 voters by to get 23,430,225 voters?
Take 23,430,225/7 = 3,347,175, which is the number you need to multiply the ratio by to get the number of votes each candidate received.
You: 13,388,700 votes
Candidate: 10,041,525 votes
